To support his unique method of communication, Gustavo received adaptive gaming equipment, along with an iPad Pro and a flexible iPad stand, giving him accessible, user-friendly tools for learning, entertainment, and connection.

 

Tools That Make Communication Possible

A key part of Gustavo’s communication setup involves attendant call chimes and two specialized “hoses”—essential pieces that help facilitate eye and body movement, allowing Gustavo to interact with his environment and express himself.

These hoses are critical: they support Gustavo's ability to use both his iPad and his chimes, acting as a bridge between his physical abilities and his voice. The two hoses Gustavo used at CHOC Children's Hospital were gifted to him as part of his transition home, and the replacement hoses provided through this dream are being donated back to CHOC to ensure future patients have access to the same life-changing equipment.
